Cops to destroy almost 4,000 online gambling devices seized from 2007-2022

PETALING JAYA: Police here will destroy nearly 4,000 online gambling devices along with other case items seized between 2007 and this year.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid said the items slated to be disposed of were part of 670 investigation papers opened on illegal online gambling cases between 2015 and 2022, as well as 383 investigation papers on general crime between 2006 and 2021.

"For the general crime cases, we will dispose of 1,840 items including machetes, clothes, liquor, mobile phones and cameras.

"We will also be disposing 3,914 online gambling devices, as well as 1,447 other items used in gambling, including cards, mahjong tiles and dice," he told reporters at the Ara Damansara police station on Wednesday (July 27).

He said they also seized RM101,151.50 cash and 410 Yuan which will be handed over to the National Treasury.

He said the liquor bottles were seized following police raids on night clubs, pubs and bars which did not have valid permits to sell liquor.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib and Sessions Court Judge Jamaludin Mat witnessed the ceremony to dispose of these seized items.

ACP Mohamad Fakhruddin said his personnel would continue efforts to combat crimes, especially online gambling in Petaling Jaya.
