Wayne County man scores $100K lottery prize playing online instant game
LANSING, MI -- A Wayne County man scored the touchdown of a lifetime after he won $100,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Football Payout instant game online.
“I like to play online, especially the Football Payout game,” said the 56-year-old winner, who chose to remain anonymous. “I was playing the game and a box came down on the screen showing I won $100,000. I was completely shocked and didn’t believe it.
“Shortly after I got an email confirming my prize and that’s when it finally sank it that I had really won.”
The lucky winner visited lottery headquarters in Lansing recently to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans on paying some bills and completing some home renovations.
“You always hear or read stories about people winning the Lottery but never think it will be you. Now I know it’s possible,” said the player. “Winning this prize provides a financial safety net for me and my family.”

The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot is the Wolverine FLL lottery club which claimed a $1.05 billion jackpot in March. With their winnings, the group plans to give back to the community.
And while they were lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately as a winner worth $1 million sold in Hartland in 2019 went unclaimed. The ticket was purchased at the Speedway in Hartland, but the winner never came forward to claim the prize. The money instead went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
