Bar trip leads to $589,042 lottery win for Wayne County man
LANSING, MI -- A Wayne County man plans on paying some bills and investing his winnings after he brought home a $589,042 jackpot while playing the Michigan Lottery’s Jumbo Jackpot Slots Fast Cash game.
“I was at Parts & Labor Bar and played a few Fast Cash tickets throughout the night,” said the winner, who chose to remain anonymous. “I didn’t think I’d won anything, but I scanned my tickets to be sure. I got a message to file a claim at the Lottery office on one of them, so I looked the ticket over again. Seeing the three jackpot symbols was unbelievable!
“I put the ticket in my pocket and tried to play it cool the rest of the night, but it was hard because I was so excited! As soon as I left the bar, I called my friends and family to tell them what I’d won.”
The winner bought his ticket at the Parts & Labor Bar, located at 17993 Allen Road in Melvindale. The winner matched the three jackpot-winning symbols needed to win the top prize, plus an additional $250,000 to win his prize.
“You see people winning the Lottery, and you never think it will be you, so winning is a very surreal feeling,” said the winner.

The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot is the Wolverine FLL lottery club which claimed a $1.05 billion jackpot in March 2021. With their winnings, the group plans to give back to the community.
And while they were lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately as a winner worth $1 million sold in Warren in 2021 went unclaimed. The money instead went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
