Wisconsin man wins Michigan Lottery’s Lucky for Life jackpot, takes home $390K

LANSING, MI -- A Wisconsin man has a more comfortable life in mind after he won the Michigan Lottery’s Lucky for Life jackpot. Curtis Olson, 62, of Grand View, Wisc., matched all five white numbers drawn -- 05-07-11-21-29 -- for the drawing on Oct. 31 to win the prize worth $25,000 a year for life.
“I have been playing the same set of number for four years,” Olson said. “I checked the numbers online the morning after the drawing, as I always do, and recognized them right away. I was in a daze for a few days after winning because I just couldn’t believe it. My wife and I feel like we are on cloud nine.”
Olson bought his ticket at The Corner Store/Bar, located at 213 East Cloverland Drive in Ironwood. He visited lottery headquarters in Lansing recently to claim his prize. Olson elected to receive the money as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $390,000 rather than the annuity.
He plans to use the money to pay some bills and save the remainder.
“Winning is life-changing. It feels good knowing that when unexpected situations come up, such as a car breaking down, we no longer have to worry about it financially,” Olson said.

The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot is the Wolverine FLL lottery club which claimed a $1.05 billion jackpot in March. With their winnings, the group plans to give back to the community.
