Nevada Casinos Welcome the End of the Mask Mandate
Nevada's indoor mask mandate is no longer in effect. Many other states are rolling back similar COVID-19 measures due to falling case numbers. Local jurisdictions can still decide to keep the mask-wearing requirement in place. Most Las Vegas casinos have now removed signs reminding patrons to wear face coverings.
The Governor Sisolak announced the end of the mask mandate on Thursday. The STRAT casino resort general manager hailed the decision. Other groups that reacted positively to the announcement included the Nevada Resort Association, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and MGM Resorts International.
Nevada casinos have faced restrictions since March 2020. The restrictions eased after the rollout of the vaccination program. In May, Governor Steve Sisolak announced that people would no longer have to wear a mask indoors.
