Mask Mandate Tightened at Las Vegas Casinos for New Year's Eve. Over 300,000 guests are expected to visit Las Las Casino for various New Years Eve festivities.
Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak issued a Declaration Emergency in March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Anyone who is not exempt would have to wear a mask or face covering at all times when inside or waiting in line. In June 2021, the mask mandate was relaxed as the number of vaccinated individuals increased and the numbers of COVI-20 patients dropped.
Government announced that disciplinary action will be taken against Vegas casinos that flout the rules. The fine is likely to be around $60,000. Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment were fined earlier this year for celebrities being photographed at the Mogegan Sun without masks. Merulo group was fined $75,00 for violations at The Grand Sierra and The Sahara.
Board reminds licensees, gaming employees and the general public that a licensee in violation of any law or regulation is a violation. Board may seek disciplinary action by the Nevada Gaming Commission for any such violation, according to the board.
Kristen Chenoweth is performing at The Smith Centre's New Year's Eve party. The Chainsmokers are playing at Wynn's outdoor nightclub XS. Las Vegas will be pedestrianized for the night at midnight. Eight casinos will take part in the city's fireworks display.
