Iconic Las Vegas Strip Casino Facing Likely Demolition (or Implosion)
Caesars Entertainment's Ballys resort/casino is undergoing a major overhaul. Flamingo casino was built in 1946 and is likely to be demolished. Caesar's is unlikely to invest capital in its oldest Strip property. The new owner of Flamedo has made it clear that a total teardown remains possible.
Bally's Corp. recently bought the Tropicana casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The company plans to operate the property for 18-24 months before making a decision on its future. However, the current funding environment may play a factor.
Tropicana in Las Vegas is one of two potential sites for a new stadium for the Oakland Athletics. Bally's wants to tear down the Tropicane to build a stadium. The company has said the property will eventually carry the Baly's name and serve as its western flagship. It's not clear if developing a Tropiana site would also include a resort/casino.
