Two Billionaires Have Huge Las Vegas Strip Plans
MGM Resorts International and Caesars Entertainment dominate the south and central Las Vegas Strip. Both have plans to make a huge mark on Las Las. Vegas' iconic road. Success on the Strip isn't guaranteed. A lot of fortunes have been lost by people who think it's easy to battle the incumbent leaders. In 2023, MGM focuses on integrating Cosmopolitan and, Caeresars relaunches the former Bally's under the Horseshoe name.
Billionaire Tilman Fertitta bought a piece of land on the Las Vegas Strip for $270 million. He plans to build a 43-story, 2,420-room hotel/casino on it. Circus Circus owner Phil Ruffin also has plans for a hotel on his property.
Ruffin owns Circus Circus and Treasure Island. He also owns the Las Vegas Fairgrounds, which he wants to renovate. The Oakland Athletics are interested in the Tropicana and Ruffin's empty fairgrounds property. Ruffins has talked to the team about building a 30,000-seat stadium with a retractable roof on the fairground.
