Pacific Peninsula Entertainment wants to build a $335 million casino on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. P2E wants the riverboat license from Bossier City to Diamond Jacks casino.

During the council meeting on Wednesday, many people took the podium to speak out on the matter. Ronald Reeves, a Slidell resident, believes that a casino would be a good way to bring tax revenue money for public projects.

Voters will decide on $325m casino in Slidell Area. Pastor and opponents of the project asked the council to postpone the vote. Rev. John Raymond filed a suit to keep the proposal off the ballot. He said the casino would lead to problem gambling and reduced property values.

The Slidell City Council voted down postponing the vote on the casino. Business owners from Slidello asked for a delay and an independent economic impact study. Councilmember T.J. Smith offered a 60-day delay of the voting for 60 days.
