DURAND, Mich. (WJRT) - A Shiawassee County woman surprised her husband with an excited phone call after learning she won $1.5 million from the Michigan Lottery.

"Once he answered, I yelled: 'Honey, we're millionaires!'" she said.

The 50-year-old won the jackpot in the Michigan Lottery's Super Lucky 7s fast cash game with a ticket purchased Oct. 12 at the Marathon gas station at 707 N. Saginaw St. in Durand.

The lucky winner said she purchased two other fast cash tickets and won $30, so she spent her winnings on two more tickets. A scanner in the gas station gave her a message saying she needed to call lottery headquarters about a prize for one of the new tickets.

The 50-year-old believed she won a $250,000 prize after studying the ticket in her car. She called the lottery and learned that her prize was much higher.

"When the employee told me I'd won $1.5 million, I yelled: 'Wait, what did you just say?'" the lucky winner said. "I was expecting to hear $250,000, so I was flabbergasted when I heard $1.5 million."

The 50-year-old went back to work and her boss asked whether everything was OK. She told him about the big prize and then called her husband to tell him they are millionaires.

"The rest of the day was a complete blur," the lucky winner said.

She plans to save all of her prize.

"I've felt like I have been living in a dream since I won, and I think it's finally starting to sink in," the player said.

Super Lucky 7's is one of 11 fast cash games from the Michigan Lottery. They range in price from $2 to $20 that all feed into the same progressive jackpot.

Tickets are available from all 10,500 lottery retailers across Michigan.
