Woman Wins Rs 6.14 Crore Jackpot After Accidentally Playing Lottery Game

An American woman who was playing an online lottery game on demo mode, ended up winning the jackpot worth $736,874 - that’s about Rs. 6.14 Crore. Cynthia Harris, of Cary, said she accidentally placed a $2 bet while trying out North Carolina Education Lottery’s digital instant game, Bison Bonanza.

"I thought I was playing on Demo mode," the player told lottery officials.

Harris’ accidental play won her Bison Bonanza’s progressive jackpot, called “Epic Jackpot.

Her winnings, according to a North Carolina Education Lottery release, were the highest claimed by any player since the digital game was launched in November 2023.

“I was like, ‘Wait how did this just happen,” Haris recalled “It still hasn’t set in yet.”

The winner, who described herself as a “blessed person” for having hit the jackpot, said she’ll use the prize money to look after her mother.

"Harris claimed her prize at lottery headquarters Monday in Raleigh," the release stated. "After required federal and state tax withholdings, she took home $526,866."

Her net earnings worked out to Rs. 4.39 crore.

It's not everyday that someone wins a lottery on accident but it's not unheard of either. Last month, a woman won pushed the wrong button on a lottery vending machine - and still won a $1 million prize.
