Alexander McLeish has won $1m on a lottery ticket from a friend. A Maryland woman won a $50,000 prize from the same store where she had won twice before. In North Carolina, a man mistakenly bought two winning tickets and won double his previous prize.
Alexander McLeish is recovering from heart surgery. He received a $1m Cashword ticket from a friend. The winning letters on his scratch-off puzzle spelled out the word 'hearts'. He claimed his prize on Friday.
Montgomery County woman, 61, won $50,000 in the Maryland Lottery. She bought the ticket at Talbert's Ice & Beverage Service in Bethesda. It's the same store where she won the lottery twice before. Talberts will receive a $500 bonus for playing its part in her third win. Quickeez Beer, Wine, and Convenience Store in Carver, Massachusetts will get a bonus of $10,00 for selling a ticket worth $1m.
Scotty Thomas won $780,000 in two lump sum payments on the Lucky for Life lottery in North Carolina. He bought the tickets accidentally. He could have taken annuities, but chose to take the lump-sum payment. The winner received $551,851. It was the third such win in the US this week.
