Sweden to remove online gambling restrictions by November 14
The current restrictions on online gambling in Sweden will come to an end on November 14.
The set measure to end. Spelinspektionen will review the regulations and propose new options to help provide more player protection. The regulator must complete the action by mid-March 2022. Report must be provided by the regulator with an evaluation of the temporary measures by March 2023.
Trade Association Branschföreningen för Onlinespel is happy with the lifting of the restrictions on online gambling in Sweden. The association wants to be a part of a dialogue regarding the temporary measures and long-term regulations. Temporary restrictions began in June 2020 and included the cap on deposits and a SEK100 limit on bonuses. They were to continue through the end of 2020. An extension was put in place back in May and it was set for November 14.
