Sweden Removing Temporary Online Casino Restrictions
The Swedish government has announced an end to the nation’s temporary pandemic online gambling restrictions starting November 14.
Swedish government is getting rid of its controversial online gambling limits on November 14. The weekly deposit limit for online casino players of SEK5,000 ($586.73) is being reviewed. Spelinspektionen has until March 15, 2022 to submit a report that analyses the performance of the temporary measures.
Sweden's temporary restrictions on online gambling were put in place in June 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The government extended them twice, until May 2021 and again until November 14, 2021. They will be removed on November 15th.
The temporary restrictions on online casinos were removed in Sweden. Many stakeholders opposed their introduction. The Swedish gambling market is very tightly regulated. Any errant operators are dealt with in a strong manner.
