Penn National Gaming moved from being an opposer of the state’s Category 4 satellite casino plans to being the first operator to launch such an operation in Pennsylvania. As expected, the grand opening of Hollywood Casino York came with a ton of hype of excitement. Gamblers in York County can now access the $120-million state-of-the-art facility and all its amazing amenities.

Some of the things that revelers can look forward to include: up to 24 table games, more than 500 exciting slot machines as well as the very first retail Barstool Sportsbook in the state. In addition to that, the space also includes an upscale casual dining offering and premier guest service.

Hollywood Casino York is not just the first mini-casino in Pennsylvania. It also happens to be the operator’s 3rd property in the state and its 43 in the Commonwealth. That makes it a huge milestone for the company. It was also the perfect place for Penn National Gaming to launch some of its newest innovations.

“We are also very excited to be launching our cutting edge ‘3C’ technology at Hollywood Casino York: our cardless, cashless, contactless ‘mywallet’. This is a revolutionary enhancement for our industry, and I want to thank the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for their support and our technology partners Everi Holdings and Acres Manufacturing. This technology further supports Penn National’s omnichannel business approach where we are providing the best experiences, whether people are playing with us at our properties or on our numerous online offerings.”

Todd George, Executive Vice President of Operations for Penn National.

The locals have also benefited from the employment opportunities that became available through the new gambling facility. That is just the beginning.

Record Revenue in July

Aside from now having a new gaming facility, the state also experienced another win in the form of record revenue for the month of July. Gaming revenue in the state went up 49.7 percent year on year thanks to massive growth in nearly all sectors of the gambling market. The combined total gaming revenue for all the state-regulated gambling activities in July 2021 was a whopping $423,657,956.

While slots revenue contributed the biggest share in the revenue listing, other verticals also performed exceptionally well. Table games and sports betting continue to grow strong as the gaming economy continues to recover after the pandemic and all its restrictions. Even fantasy sports which recorded the lowest revenue saw a positive change in revenue. Only online poker took a bit of a hit dropping by 13.06 percent to $2,596,418.
