Mass. State Lottery winner: $4 million prize won from convenience store
A $4 million lottery prize won from a ticket bought at an automobile repair shop and convenience store in Massachusetts was claimed Friday.
The prize was won from the scratch game “777” and amounts to $2.6 million before taxes. The winning ticket, which cost $10 to purchase, was bought at Mac’s Auto Repair & Convenience Store in Webster, according to the State Lottery’s website.
The odds of winning $4 million in “777,” the top prize that can be won in the game, are one in 4.032 million. The odds of wining $1 million, the second-highest prize that can be won in the game, are one in 1.792 million.
The State Lottery publishes a list online every day of all winning tickets sold in Massachusetts worth more than $600. Overall, there were 666 winning lottery tickets worth at least $600 sold or claimed in the commonwealth Friday, including 20 in Springfield, 22 in Worcester and 54 in Boston.
The winner of the $4 million prize was not the only lucky lottery player in Massachusetts this week. Someone won $1.3 million Wednesday after claiming a winning scratch ticket bought at a 7-Eleven in Gloucester. Two $1 million prizes were also claimed Monday from winning scratch tickets.
So far this year, the two biggest lottery prizes won in the state were the $33 million and $31 million ”Mega Millions” jackpots. The awards were scored a week apart from each other in January.
The $31 million ticket was bought at a Gibbs gas station in Woburn, and the jackpot was won during the Tuesday, Jan. 3 drawing. On March 8, the winner claimed their prize through the S & L Trust.
The $33 million ticket was bought at a Stop & Shop in Belchertown, and the jackpot was won during the Tuesday, Jan. 24 drawing. On March 1, The winner claimed their prize through the Skylark Group Trust.
