Mass. lottery winner: Prize of $20K a month for 10 years won from Gulf
One lucky lottery player is going to have a lucrative next 10 years after claiming a winning ticket from a Gulf Express gas station and convenience store in Massachusetts on Friday.
A winning “DECADE OF DOLLARS” scratch ticket was bought at a Gulf in Danvers for $10, earning the player $20,000 a month for 10 years, according to the State Lottery’s website. The prize amounts to $1.56 million before taxes.
The odds of winning $20,000 a month for 10 years, the top prize that can be won in the lottery game, are one in 2.52 million.
Every day, the State Lottery posts a list online of all the winning tickets sold in Massachusetts worth more than $600. There were 666 total winning lottery tickets worth at least $600 sold or claimed in the commonwealth Friday, including 20 in Springfield, 22 in Worcester and 54 in Boston.
The winner of the $20,000 a month for 10 years was not the only lucky lottery player in Massachusetts this week. Someone who won $4 million from a scratch ticket bought at an automobile shop and convenience store in Webster claimed their prize Friday. Another person won $1.3 million Wednesday after claiming a winning scratch ticket bought at a 7-Eleven in Gloucester. Two $1 million prizes were also claimed Monday from winning scratch tickets.
The two largest lottery prizes won in the state so far in 2023 were the $33 million and $31 million “Mega Millions” jackpots. The awards were scored a week apart from one another in January.
The $31 million ticket was bought at a Gibbs gas station in Woburn. The jackpot was won during the Tuesday, Jan. 3 drawing, and on March 8, the winner claimed their prize through the S & L Trust.
The $33 million ticket was bought at a Stop & Shop in Belchertown. The jackpot was won during the Tuesday, Jan. 24 drawing, and on March 1, The winner claimed their prize through the Skylark Group Trust.
