Gambling zones likely to reopen
A RECENT meeting between the National Gaming Control Board chairman and the Pandemic Controller sought that gambling zones will be reopen soon.
After meeting with David Manning on Saturday, NGCB chairman Clemence Kanau said the meeting gave a positive response that might see the gambling sites reopening.
“The meeting went well,” Mr Kanau said.
He said the board was directed to present an amended standard operating procedures (SOPs) to the Pandemic Controller. “Until then, the controller has the last say on when we are to reopen the gambling sites,” Mr Kanau said.
He said as per the National Pandemic Control Center, measures change from time to time, thus the NGCB has to amend their SOPs.
The requirements include measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at gaming sites.
These include basic instructions like wearing of face masks, sanitising of hands and temperature checks at respective gaming sites.
Mr Kanau said seeing the meeting going well, he is excited to move forward with the controller’s directions.
He said the COVID-19 preventive measures was always strictly practiced at gaming sites; when first directed before the lockdown. The NGCB will be presenting the amended measures to the controller this week and hope to reopen the gambling sites soon.
