Nevada officials are holding a public workshop on the potential for online casinos. The state has the ability to launch online casino gaming, but regulation is needed. Current rules would have to be amended to ensure online gambling is operational in a legal manner. The definition of poker would need to change to a separate game. Other changes would also be needed including self-exclusion and game rules.
Nevada has only had online poker for almost a decade. New Jersey has seen success with online casino gaming. Online gaming would bring in new revenues for the casinos. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has affected the industry. It could be many months before people are comfortable traveling to Las Vegas for gambling. It will be interesting to see if there will soon be online casinos launching in Nevada.
