Celebrities banned from online gambling adverts from Thursday. The ban is in an effort to combat gambling addiction among the young. 17% of all online accounts opened by people aged 18 to 24 are gambling accounts. Former players such as Wesley Sneijder, Dick Advocaat and Ellie Lust have been the face of online betting ads since it was legalised in the Netherlands last year.
Ajax signed a sponsorship deal with Unibet last week. UniBet was in talks with AZ of Alkmaar, but failed to reach an agreement.
