Ajax has signed a sponsorship deal with Unibet. Uniberet recently won a licence to offer betting and gambling in the Netherlands. The deal is aimed at working together on 'social projects' in mental health, responsible gambling and preventing match fixing. MPs are angry about the use of celebrities in online gambling ads.
Most Dutch Eredivisie clubs are sponsored by gambling companies. Toto is one of them. Unibet's deal with Ajax is rumoured to be in the region of €2 million to €3 million.
