$50K Scratch Ticket Winner Hugs Store Clerk After Big Discovery

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 75-year-old Landover woman couldn't believe her eyes when she scratched a lotto ticket and uncovered a $50,000 prize hidden underneath the image of a gift tied up in a red bow. She was playing the "holiday riches" $5 game bought at the Landover Hills Exon.

"I was so in shock I had to hold my chest," the woman said.

She was so excited she hugged the store clerk, then phoned a few family members to share the news. A federal government retiree since 2007, the winner said she enjoys playing lottery games and spending time at MGM National Harbor casino or Live! Casino & Hotel. She plans to use her winnings to boost her savings account, pay bills and provide financial assistance to a family member.

Landover Hills Exxon at 6579 Annapolis Road in Landover will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for its role in selling a top-prize winning scratch-off worth $50,000.
