Brampton woman wins $2,500,000 in lottery jackpot draw
Patience has paid off for a Brampton woman who took home half of a $5 million dollar jackpot playing Lotto 6/49.
Brampton’s Nancy Gardner says she has been playing the same lottery numbers for years. So when the retiree won $2.5 million in the October Lotto 6/49 draw, she at first thought the win was too good to be true.
“I checked the winning numbers on OLG.ca and thought OLG was playing a prank on me – I was shaking. I couldn’t believe it,” Gardner said while picking up her prize at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
Gardner says her family and friends were just as shocked when learning about her win, some even breaking down with tears of joy.
The OLG says Gardner’s ticket was one of two that shared the $5 million jackpot.
The Brampton winner says she plans to help her family with her winnings and hopes to purchase a home.
The new Lotto 6/49 offers players a chance to win two multi-million dollar jackpots every Wednesday and Saturday for $3 per play. The main draw is the new Classic Draw and offers a fixed $5 million jackpot for every draw, while the previous $1 million Guaranteed Prize Draw is the new Gold Ball Draw.
The Gold Ball Jackpot Draw guarantees that the winner will take home either $1 million, or the growing jackpot that starts at $10 million and can exceed $60 million. Click here for more information about the new Lotto 6/49.
