Ontario Lottery Gaming Corporation is an advocate of responsible gambling. The province's rate of problem gambling has a rate 0.3%.

Pickering received its first payment for hosting the summer-opened Pickering Casino Resort. Addictions councillor Alexandria Baker reminded that gambling services may have negative effects on locals.

New Gambling Awareness Guidelines were released by the Canadian Centre on Substance and Addiction. Gamblers should not bet more than one percent of their household income for a month and they should focus on two or fewer games at a time.
