Palms in Las Vegas Ready to Reopen Ahead of NFL Draft
Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas will reopen on April 27. It will be just before the 2022 NFL draft, which is being held on the Strip.
The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas will officially reopen this spring. The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians purchased the property for $650m from Red Rocks Resorts. Reservation are now being accepted for stays beginning on April 28.
The tribe hired Cynthia Kiser Murphey as its general manager last September. Mur pipped the opening of the Palms to the right time, because the draft is being held there. The NFL draft was originally supposed to be held in Las Vegas in 2020, but the coronavirus made that impossible. The commissioner Roger Goodell has held firm on his promise. He wants to partner with the Raiders, the City of Las Las and the Las Nevada Convention and Visitors Authority for a future NFL Draft.
Palms underwent a $600m renovation in 2019 and will reopen with the usual bar and restaurants. The new Palms will be the first Las Vegas resort fully operated by a tribe once it reopens. Ghostbar nightclub and Brenden Theatres will not open on April 27. The theaters will have graffitied walls, stadium seating and refurbished flooring. Several interns from UNLV’s William F. Harrah College of Hospitality will also be on staff. San Manuel Gaming and Hospitalities Authority runs a string of casinos including the Yaamava‘s in California.
