Oz Lotto officials are trying to get in contact with a Queenslander and a West Australian who have taken out the whopping $50 million jackpot.

“The winning pair may have yet to discover their life-changing news,” The Lott said.

The winning Queenslander purchased their entry online at thelott.com. Lotterywest will be liaising with the West Australian winner.

The winning numbers you needed this week were 17, 31, 22, 11, 26, 36, 4 and the two supplementaries were 16 and 6.

The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said repeated attempts to phone Queensland’s new multi-millionaire had failed.

“I was ready to confirm Oz Lotto’s newest division one winner straight after the results of tonight’s draw were known, but sadly whenever I called the number provided, it just rang out and went straight to message bank,” he said. “If you see a number of missed calls on your phone, you could be the winner we’re trying to contact.

“You may not think it’s possible you’re the division one winner we’re searching for, but if you purchased an online entry into this week’s Oz Lotto draw that you haven’t checked yet, you’re in with a chance!

“We’re urging all Oz Lotto players to check their entries as soon as possible. If you discover you are holding the division one winning ticket contact The Lott on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize,” he said.

The $50 million jackpot prize was the equal biggest jackpot the game has offered in more than two years.

During the past five Oz Lotto draws, no entry has held the seven winning numbers in a single game panel needed to score division one, pushing the jackpot to $50 million.

If nobody is lucky enough to nab the prize tonight, the jackpot will continue to climb.

The Oz Lotto jackpot hasn’t soared higher than $50 million since June 2019.

In 2021, there were 18 lottery division one wins that collectively took home more than $279 million in prize money.

Six of those division one winning entries landed in Victoria, five in NSW, three in Western Australia, two in Queensland and one each in the Northern Territory and South Australia.

The cash up for grabs tonight is so enticing that lottery officials estimate one out of every six Aussies will have a ticket for the draw.

Last year, news.com.au spoke to a Sydney man who scored a $30 million prize, similar to the money that could be won tonight.

The ex-tradie aged in his 30s told news.com.au: “What my motto has become, I guess winning the lotto doesn’t make you any happier, it just makes life easier.

“If you’re not happy, and you want to win the lottery (to change that) you’re going to be terribly mistaken.”

The man spoke to news.com.au on the condition of anonymity after some “weird” experiences when telling friends and family about his new millionaire status.

“People have come out of the woodwork,” he explained.

“A lot of people find out through the grape vine, they never actually ask you. I had someone that I haven’t even seen since I was school in, probably 15 years ago.”

One very close friendship soured because “they didn’t take it well” when he told them he was now a multi-millionaire.

He has since gone on to buy a house for himself, a holiday house and a boat.

The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said he would be the one making the call to inform whoever won tonight’s lottery that they were an instant millionaire.

“I’ll be on standby to break the life-changing news to any registered division one winners straight after the draw on Tuesday night, but to do that, players need to register their entries to a player card or online account,” he said.

“You do need an entry to be in with a chance to win, so make sure you have your ticket before the draw closes at 7.30pm AEST on Tuesday night.”
