Record $160 million Powerball jackpot up for grabs tonight
One very lucky Aussie could become the country’s biggest-ever individual lottery winner tonight, with a record $160 million Powerball jackpot up for grabs.
The jackpot has soared to the eye-watering amount after there were no division one winners during the past five draws.
The previous record for Australia’s biggest Lottery jackpot was $150 million back in September 2019, where three people shared in the prize.
Around half the adult population of Australia is expected to buy a ticket into tonight’s draw, in the hopes of becoming our newest multi-millionaire.
“While Australian lotteries have been operating for more than a century, there have only been nine draws that have offered a jackpot of $100 million or more, and this Thursday’s draw is the biggest of the lot,” The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said
“If just one person takes home this $160 million prize on Thursday night, they’ll make history by becoming the nation’s biggest-ever individual lottery winner.
Newsagents across the country are bracing for a busy day, with Mr Hart urging punters not to leave their entry to the last minute.
“While we’ve never had a $160 million Powerball draw before, if previous big jackpots are anything to go by, we can expect it to get busier and busier at lottery outlets and online leading up to tonight’s draw.
“We encourage customers to not only get in early to purchase their entries but also register their entries to a player card or online account so we can contact them directly after the draw with some incredible news!
“If we have a division one winner on Thursday night, we’ll be wanting to let them know straight after the draw. They may not need to head into work on Friday, or ever again!”
