KING OF PRUSSIA PA – What Pennsylvania State Police reportedly consider a valid mistake, which occurred at the Valley Forge Casino Resort on First Avenue, has prompted troopers to decline filing charges against an unidentified suspect, the agency said Thursday (Feb. 9, 2023).

Skippack-based troopers, on duty at the casino on behalf of the state Bureau of Gaming Enforcement, said a 46-year-old Shillington man told them Saturday (Feb. 4) at 5:09 a.m. he had left a wallet containing his identification and business cards unattended at a slot machine on the casino floor. Troopers reviewed surveillance video, and located a suspect who “picked up an object at the same slot machine.”

It “could be the wallet,” they said, and began an investigation.

In talking with the suspect, however, troopers indicated they were convinced he “mistakenly took the wallet thinking it was his own, and returned it a short time after.”

Troopers reported they would no longer be involved in the incident, initially labeled as one of alleged theft of lost or mislaid property. They did not make an arrest or file charges.
