Casino Patrons' Winnings Taken in Separate Incidents

VALLEY FORGE PA – Two gambling patrons had their slot machine winnings stolen in separate and unrelated incidents that occurred Saturday (Nov. 13, 2021) and Sunday (Nov. 14) inside the Valley Forge Casino Resort, 1160 First Ave., according to Pennsylvania State Police from the Troop K Barracks in Skippack. They were working at the casino on behalf of the state Bureau of Gaming Enforcement.

In another separate and unrelated incident, troopers said a different patron was subdued after he tried to push a member of the casino security staff.

Alleged Theft Sunday

Troopers said they arrested a 41-year-old Lansdale man on two charges after he attempted Sunday at 3:49 p.m. to steal a gambling voucher valued at $59.

The incident reportedly occurred as the victim, a 38-year-old King of Prussia woman, was playing a slot machine on the gaming floor. “While the victim had her back turned,” troopers stated, the Lansdale man “approached and removed” her voucher from the machine “and left the area.” They “responded to the gaming floor and apprehended” the man, who was later “processed and released.”

He faces charges of theft by unlawful taking and theft of property lost, mislaid, or delivered by mistake, they added. He is expected to answer citations at a later date in the Bridgeport courtroom of Magisterial District Justice James P. Gallagher.

Alleged Theft Saturday

A 66-year-old Phoenixville woman reportedly left her slot machine Saturday at 4:50 a.m. to use a casino bathroom, troopers said. In her absence, a so-far-unidentified suspect “came up to the machine” and removed a voucher valued at $443. The suspect redeemed the voucher and left the casino, they added.

The theft remains under investigation.

Alleged Pushing Incident

A 38-year-old West Chester man was charged Friday (Nov. 12) with public drunkenness and similar misconduct following an incident that occurred at 9:30 p.m. in the casino.

Troopers said the man appeared to be “under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance” that caused casino security staffers to believe he “may have endangered himself or other persons.” The man subsequently engaged in an argument with security personnel. Troopers said the man “had to be taken to the ground after he attempted to physically push a security supervisor.”
