Gateway's Cascades Casino Delta in BC to open its doors on September 29
Canadian gaming operator Gateway Casinos & Entertainment's new facility, Cascades Casino Delta, is set to open on Thursday, September 29.The CAD99 million ($74.5 million) investment will feature 160,000 feet of entertainment space in Ladner, just north of Highway 99/17A interchange in Delta, British Columbia.
According to the announcement, the Grand-opening festivities on September 29 willstart at 11 a.m. and continue all day, with a ceremony planned for 4:30 p.m.
"Gateway is proud to invest over $99 million in Delta and bring up to 600 new employees to the community," said company CEO Tony Santo, who described the casino as "a significant addition to the local economy and entertainment landscape of Delta."
The casino’s 40,000-square-foot gaming area will include 500 slot machines, 18 live table games, and up to six electronic tablegames.
Additionally, the property will featuredining and culinary options; including signature restaurants Match Eatery & Public House, Summit Bar, and a full-service buffet. There is also going to be a meeting and event space. The attached five-story Delta by Marriot hotel will feature 124 rooms and include a day spa, resort-style outdoor pool and hot tub, a fitness center, and parking with allocated spots for electric vehicles.
In the meantime, the company continues the hiring process at its South Delta property. "The priority is to create a strong team to operate the gaming floor and manage the new food & beverage offerings," Gateway said in a news release.
The positions available at Cascades Casino Delta include several areas. For the casino, dealers, dealer supervisors, and slot attendants are being recruited. Guest services representatives and supervisors are also being targeted.
Security officers, cashiers, count team members, and supervisors, as well as cooks, assistant chefs, sous chefs, restaurant servers, bartenders, hosts, and dishwashers, are also wanted.Applications can be sent through Gateway & Entertainment’s website.
In November 2018, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation gave final approval for the construction of the casino, built on the former site of Delta Town & Country Inn. At the time, the construction timeline projected an opening of mid-2020.
Across its portfolio, Gateway employs close to 7,000 people and features nearly 334 table games (including 27 poker tables), 13,555 slots, 91 food and beverage outlets, and 561 hotel rooms. In B.C., Gateway operates Cascades-branded casinos in Langley, Kamloops and Penticton.
