Armed robbery arrests related to gambling bust in Starkville
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) — Starkville Police Chief Mark Ballard said illegal gambling sites often serve as a breeding ground for violent crime.
This comes less than a week after police arrested two armed robbery suspects: Kikwon Cork, 22, and Tyrek Richardson, 24, both of Starkville.
They face charges in connection to a robbery that happened on Friday, Oct. 13 at a home on Choctaw Road.
Police made multiple gambling-related arrests at the same location on May 30.
“Illegal gambling invites a criminal element into the community that typically wouldn't be there,” Police Sgt. John Pearson said. “A lot of our investigations lead to the seizure of narcotics, stolen property, firearms as well, during the investigation.”
