Snake Helps Thief With Casino Robbery
There have been plenty of crazy casino capers through the years, but one recent Oklahoma City case stood out and involved a unique modus operandi.
Police say Jason McBrayer, 43,didn’t use a gun or knife, but instead brandished a snake to rob a casino guest.
Authorities say the suspect sat next to a customer at a slot machine at Remington Park Casino and quickly pulled out the snake in a threatening manner. The slot player then fled the scene, but left a $400 ticket at the machine. The serpentine suspect then allegedly cashed out the ticket and left the property.
Snake Used As A Weapon
What type of snake was used in the case isn’t known. But this wasn’t McBrayer’s only crime using the repitle, according to police.
“It was the following day when police were called to the same man. He was out on northeast 23rd Street,” Master Sergeant Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department told KQCW. “He began threatening people again with the snake.”
Police allege that McBrayer lunged at a convenience store clerk as well as other customers at the store. The scene then became even more bizarre.
“During the disturbance, he takes a knife and cuts off the head of the snake and throws the snake away,” Knight added. “You don’t see a snake or even an animal for that matter used as a weapon in a robbery very often. It’s something we rarely see.”
When police arrived, McBrayer fled but was arrested at a nearby bank. McBrayer now faces charges of robbery by force or fear and animal cruelty.
The casino industry has seen some interesting crime cases in recent weeks, including a major baccarat scam and other six-figure heists.
