£3.5 million transformation for Merchant City casino
Grosvenor Casinos will invest more than £3.5m to expand its Glasgow Merchant City venue on Glassford Street.
The plan is to add a new bar and restaurant, seating 70 covers, alongside new table games and viewing areas to watch live sport.
The Merchant City site has been chosen as Grosvenor's flagship proof-of-concept venue, as the group looks to modernise its appeal.
As one of Grosvenor’s best performing casino venues outside of London, the refurbishment will also create 13 jobs, with a new head chef one of the key roles currently available.
Debbie Johnston, general manager of Grosvenor Casino Glasgow Merchant City, said: “Glasgow’s hospitality sector was hard hit during the pandemic, but Grosvenor Casino’s major investment in Merchant City shows there is real confidence in the city’s recovery.
“We can’t wait to welcome customers old and new where they will be able to socialise, kick back and let their hair down for an unforgettable entertainment experience.”
The casino remain will remain open throughout the refurbishment, with an official launch event taking place on 2 July.
Current job roles advertised at the casino include three commis chefs, one chef de partie, a head chef, gaming host, marketing executive and three trainee dealers.
