Two Found Dead After Tunnel Fire Near Las Vegas Casino
Two people were found dead in a tunnel near the Silverton Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The fire crew had to extinguish a blaze in the underground tunnel. Multiple crews had had issues due to narrowness of the tunnel and low air.
The Clark County Fire Department was the first to respond to the fire close to Interstate 15. The fire is not being treated as a homicide investigation. The next of kin of the victims will be notified and their identities will soon be released.
Hundreds of homeless people live in Las Vegas' expansive tunnel system. The city uses the tunnels to deal with flash floods and downpours. There are tunnel entrances close to Caesars Palace, Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino and the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.
