Turn to Tara: Caesars plans massive Las Vegas style casino in the heart of Times Square
After years of keeping their plans close to the vest, developers are telling News 12 about their plans to expand a gaming empire into Manhattan. In his first sit-down interview, Caesars CEO Tom Reeg gave our Senior Reporter Tara Rosenblum a revealing look at his plans to build a full-scale Las Vegas style casino in the heart of Times Square with partners SL Green and Jay-Z.Reeg says if they are granted one of the three licenses, they will retrofit an existing skyscraper to include 250,000 square feet of gaming space and 950 hotel rooms. It would be the largest property that Caesars ever built, in terms of its budget. “We will have terraces that will be your food and beverage and your bars that overlook Times Square, overlook the ball drop. You're going to have no gaming on the ground floor. So, you're not going to be able to walk in off of Broadway and be directly at a slot machine. You're going to have to go up into the property.” Caesars is one of roughly a dozen gaming giants rumored to be applying for a gaming license.Reeg shares his thoughts about it in a special Turn to Tara report tonight on News 12.
