Caesars to rebrand Florida's Isle Casino Racing Pompano under Harrah's family
Caesars Entertainmentannounced during a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday that its Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park property in Florida will soon be rebranded as "Harrah’s Pompano Beach". Caesars and its development partner, The Cordish Cos. will be in charge of the casino expansion, and will engage in a years-long remake of Isle Casino Racing. This marks the latest move in Caesars' rebranding and transformation projects across the U.S. in recent days.
The announcement marked the first round of projects the two companies intend to carry out during the next few years on a 223-acre plot of land in southwest Pompano Beach.
Pompano Park will be designed as a city within a city, which will include a 15,000 square-foot casino expansion; a 580,000 square-foot, four-level parking garage connected to the casino which will add more than 1,500 parking spaces; a “gaming terrace” adding 12,500 square-feet of outdoor gaming. It will also feature an office campus, several thousand apartment units and a cinema, shops and restaurants.
Including the casino, the upgrades and additions would cover more than two million square feet.
The casino will operate under the Harrah’s brand while the elements built by Cordish will be under its LIVE! Resorts Pompano brand.
Caesars CEO Tom Reeg spoke at a groundbreaking event attended by local politicians and Isle Casino employees which took place in front of the casino, and said: “Harrah’s is a promise that you’re going to be treated like family, whether you’re a customer, an employee or someone in the community. We don’t throw that name around lightly. It was a lot of discussion into what shall we call this, and Isle Casino was obviously a Harrah’s to us”.
David Cordish, founder and CEO of The Cordish Cos, added: “With Harrah’s Pompano Beach at its heart, Live! Resorts Pompano will bring together casino gaming with best-in-class entertainment, retail, dining, hotel, residential, office, logistics and lifestyle amenities into one dynamic destination”.
Cordish also added the project is intended to provide “thousands of new jobs and create a unique destination for residents and visitors to the region”.
This yearslong project will see Caesars and Cordish supplanting the casino and racetrack with a 100,000-square-foot gambling, dining and entertainment destination with 750 slots and electronic table games and approximately 30 live-action table games toward the end of the 2020s.
Located south of Atlantic Boulevard, the project is expected to add a Tri-Rail commuter station nearby. Plans also call for a public park, walking and bike trails, and a “crystal lake” for swimming. A new Publix supermarket is also opening in the project’s northwest corner.
Since the project was first announced in 2018, Eldorado Resorts, partner of Cordish, formally took over Caesars Entertainment Corp in 2020 and created the largest casino and entertainment company in the U.S.
Eldorado retained the more prominent Caesars brand name of a worldwide business that operates more than 55 casino properties. Harrah’s Pompano and LIVE! Pompano are among them.
Earlier this month, Caesars also announced the rebranding of Lumière Place Casino & Hotel in Saint Louis, Missouri, to become Horseshoe Saint Louis. The rebranding will be part of a property transformation, expected to finalize in spring 2022.
In late January, Caesars said its Horseshoe casino brand is returning to Las Vegas amid a new transformation and rebranding period to be launched at Bally’s Las Vegas. The process will begin in the spring of 2022 and will include a renovated exterior, new entertainment and food and beverage options, and a redesigned casino floor and public areas.
