The government was happy to see the birth of Las Vegas. In the 1960s, the Nevada Corporate Gaming Act was passed. It made it illegal for anyone involved in the running of gambling businesses to be a mobster. The Black Book was created to keep suspected mobsters out of casinos. New license applications undergo background checks. The podcast addresses issues resolved by the passing of the law. There is still the social stigma of allowing someone in a crime family to run things in Vegas, but Harry Reid doesn't see it changing any time soon.
