The Flamingo is celebrating 75 years in business. It is Las Vegas’s first mob-built resort.

The Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel & Casino turns 75 on Sunday. The resort is celebrating its anniversary with special offers and team appreciation days. It is also hosting VIP guests for an exclusive anniversary dinner. The Flamedo is the oldest still-operating resort on the Las Las. Vegas Strip.

The Flamingo Hilton is no longer shy away from its connection to mobster Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel. Hilton bought the Flamedo in the early 1970s and renamed it the Hilton. Sieri was gunned down in 1947 in Beverley Hills. Mobsters took over the hotel after his murder. The Flame is 50 years old. It was the first mob-built casino in Las Vegas.

The Bugsy and Meyer's Steakhouse will open in 2020 at the Flamingo. Caesars Entertainment president Sean McBurney says the mob connection is unique to the brand but doesn't mean it condones the method of operations.

The Flamingo resort turns 75 this year. It has been sold many times throughout its history. In 1967, US businessman Kirk Kerkorian bought it and changed its focus to corporate gaming. He sold it to Hilton in 1972, and in 2005 to Caesars' subsidiary Harrah's Entertainment. The resort has added over 3,500 rooms and a 200-unit timeshare tower since 1993.
