Persistent problems with the new self-exclusion tool have hampered the launch of the newly regulated online gambling market in the Netherlands, forcing operators to postpone their launch.

October 1 was the date set for online operators to legally offer their services in the Netherlands after years waiting. Ten operators were approved by the Dutch regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), including GGPoker, Bet365 and Holland Casino, to launch their operations on Friday.

And, while players were hoping to play at legalized online poker rooms for the very first time, the launch was certainly not without its bumps.

In fact, none of the approved sites became fully operational on the opening day. On Friday, the day of the launch, a “technical malfunction” of the Central Register Uitsluiting Kansspelen (CRUKS) meant that players were unable to sign up.
