KSA announces guidance regarding online gambling advertising
The new online gambling market of the Netherlands will launch on October 1st. Dutch regulator Kansspelautoriteit has announced new guidance involving recruitment to sites and advertising. Operators are to follow the guidance to stay in compliance with the region’s online betting regulations.
KSA has released new guidance regarding online gambling advertising. It is concerned with targeting minors via advertising and using professional athletes and teams to promote betting. Staatsloterih used professional football players in ads. The state lottery used them. The regulation states that under 25s that have a substantial reach within the younger audience must not be used for advertising, and professional teams are not to be highlighted in advertising either.
The Remote Gambling Act took effect on April 1st in the Netherlands. 28 applications were received within a few days of the Act going live. The industry launches in October. All operators have to pay €48,000 ($57,700) in licensing fees and agree to add operations to the new Centraal Register Uitsluiting Kansspelen.
