Surrey woman scoops £100,000 after winning top National Lottery prize
A woman from Surrey has become £100,000 richer after scooping a top National Lottery prize.
The mystery winner, known only as Mrs E, managed to win the £100,000 prize after playing the National Lottery's "Jackpot Silver" Instant Win Game.
After winning the huge cash prize Mrs E has chosen to remain anonymous, hence her mysterious name.
But despite the secrecy, she did make it known that she planned to spend her new wealth on making some home improvements.
Camelot’s Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said: “Huge congratulations to Mrs E for winning this fantastic prize. She has instantly become one £100,000 richer and can look forward to making some home improvements.
“We’re encouraging everyone to check their tickets online at national-lottery.co.uk or by downloading the National Lottery app, and to buy or check their tickets in retail in line with government guidance.
"Playing online via the website or app means that your ticket is checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize. You can also scan your retail tickets on the National Lottery app to check if you're a winner.”
The £100,000 Jackpot Silver Instant Win Game is available to play on the National Lottery website. It costs £1 to play and offers a 1 in 2.90 chance of winning a prize.
The National Lottery added that its players help to raise an average of £30m a week for National Lottery Good Causes across the UK. This money is used to support a host of local initiatives, such as local charities, as well as Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
To date, more than £42BN has been raised and distributed to National Lottery Good Causes through more than 625,000 individual grants.
