South Lake Tahoe casinos begin closing gaming operations as Caldor Fire intensifies

Some casinos in South Lake Tahoe are closing down gaming floors because of the fast-spreading Caldor Fire. Many of their employees are California residents. Governor Steve Sisolak declares an emergency order in Nevada in response to the fire. The fire is expected to cross into Nevada soon. More than 20,000 people are evacuated from California. The governor thanks first responders and other agencies for their efforts. He declares emergency in the state. It ensures resources from the local, state, and federal levels are available to assist as needed. "We will continue to use all our available resources to fight this fire and assist those in need," he says.
