The suspect in the robbery of a high-limit casino cage at a property on the Las Vegas Strip last week was allegedly on probation for a similar robbery at another Strip casino a few years ago, according to his arrest report.
Zubaid Al Jarmi has been taken into custody by Metro Police in connection to a robbery at Resorts World that property officials said occurred about 2 a.m. on Nov. 11. Al Jarmi, who was on probation for a robbery at the Venetian in 2020, is now accused of fleeing Resorts World in a cab with thousands of dollars then returning and watching the police investigate the scene, according to his arrest report.
Al Jarmi allegedly approached a window at the casino’s high-limit cage and handede a Resorts World employee a brown plastic sack and a note that communicated “fill the bag or I will shoot you,” according to the arrest report. As the employee filled the bag with money from a drawer, Al Jarmi allegedly verbally threatened to shoot him if he did not hurry up.
After the employee had put the money from the drawer into the bag, he fled and told his manager about the robbery. Meanwhile, Al Jarmi grabbed approximately $6,000 in cash and ran out of the casino into a waiting cab, the report said.
Surveillance footage from Resorts World showed Al Jarmi returning to the hotel and casino just over an hour later around 3 a.m. He allegedly gambled a bit, then loitered and watched police before leaving the casino as more detectives arrived on the scene.
Police identified Al Jarmi in the video as the same suspect previously convicted of a Jan. 11, 2020, robbery of the Venetian casino cage. In both instances, Al Jarmi never touched the counter where the robbery took place, fled with his hands in his pockets, ran with a “distinct” stride and handed resort employees notes with similar handwriting demanding money, the arrest report said.
In 2020, Al Jarmi fled his robbery at Venetian by car and was identified based on his vehicle and cellphone. The report said the suspect at Resorts World last week fled in a cab and did not carry a cellphone, indicating Al Jarmi had changed his behavior accordingly.
A search of Al Jarmi’s belongings by police revealed a wig that he allegedly wore during the Resorts World robbery and a loaded pistol, the report said.
Al Jarmi was arrested Nov. 16 on charges related to robbery and burglary in possession of a gun and one count of violation of probation.
