Powerball jackpot soars to $100m
Aussies have already got their eyes on the prize of next week's whopping Powerball jackpot in the hope of snaring a life-changing windfall.
Next Thursday night's $100m jackpot will be the sixth biggest on offer in Australian lottery history.
It will also be the third largest prize up for grabs so far in 2024.
The jackpot swelled to nine figures after there were no division one winners in Thursday's night's draw for the fifth consecutive week.
If one player cleans up the entire $100m division one prize in a week's time, they'll share the crown of Australia's second biggest individual lottery winner ever.
Up to half of Australia's adult population are expected to buy a ticket in the hope of becoming a multi-millionaire.
Millions of Aussies will buy a ticket in next Thursday's $100m Powerball jackpot
To get punters excited, The Lott has released details about recent division one winners including a Hawthorne woman and a Singleton couple who each pocketed $100m in February's record-breaking $200m jackpot.
A Bankstown dad became the second-biggest Australian lottery winner of all time last year when he won $100m.
Aussies are already eagerly eyeing next week's draw.
'It's been almost four months since Powerball last offered $100 million to Australian lottery players – on that occasion the prize wasn't won and we saw it jackpot to the record-breaking heights of $200 million,' The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said.
'We will be waiting on the edge of our seats to see if Powerball welcomes another division one winner or if history will repeat itself and the jackpot climbs higher.
'Many Aussies are likely already imagining their plans for the remainder of 2024 and beyond if they won a portion of Powerball's $100 million. A dream vacation, early retirement, the ideal home, and fulfilling other aspirations could become tangible realities.'

Ms Hobdell added that The Lott are often asked for advice about the best chance at winning.
'The only way players can be in with a chance to secure the multi-million-dollar prize is by grabbing a ticket either in-store, online or via The Lott app,' she said.
The Lott also urged players to register their entry so winners can be contacted by officials immediately after the draw.
Registering your ticket also means your entry is secure and minimises any risks if a winning entry ends up misplaced or lost.
The numbers from Thursday night's draw were 6, 18, 32, 3, 1, 16 and 12. The all-important Powerball number was 4.
Seven division two winners took home $142,219.05 each.
