Potawatomi Casino Reinstates Mask Mandate
MILWAUKEE — The Potawatomi Hotel & Casino announced Wednesday that it will require masks inside its public facilities starting Thursday.
Guests will have to wear masks in public spaces within the casino, including the gaming floor, hotel lobby and the Northern Lights Theater, hotel and casino spokesperson Ryan Amundson said.
The hotel and casino will give masks to guests who request them at the facility's entrances, Amundson said.
"As we make a concerted effort to get back to pre-pandemic operations, we also recognize the gravity of the situation when it comes to the ongoing pandemic," said Dominic Ortiz, CEO and general manager of the property. "Maintaining a smoke-free facility while temporarily reinstituting our universal mask policy mirrors other entertainment venues in the community. It will help protect our guests, team members, other stakeholders and their loved ones from contracting the virus."
Nonsmoking, plexiglass dividers will remain between slot machines and signs will be placed throughout the facility to remind guests to wear masks and socially distance, Amundson said.
Employees have been required to wear masks since June 2020, Amundson added.
The hotel and casino first lifted its masking requirements on June 1, TMJ4 reported.
Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin reissued an indoor mask mandate for all of its facilities on Aug. 10, including locations in Black River Falls, Madison, Nekoosa, Tomah, Wisconsin Dells and Wittenberg, WEAU reported.
The Northern Lights Casino is set to reopen Sept. 21.
