Hard Rock International, Bally’s Corporation and Rush Street Gaming have submitted five proposals for a casino in downtown Chicago. The mayor's office will consider them and choose a winner before the end of March.

Hard Rock International wants to build a $1.7 billion casino in Chicago. The venue would offer 3,000 gaming positions, a music venue and a 500-room high-rise hotel.

The remaining bidders have each submitted plans for two casino schemes in Chicago. Bally's Corporation's proposal would involve a $1.8 billion redevelopment of the Chicago Tribune Publishing Center. Providence-headquartered firm's plan would see it spend $ 1.6 billion to transform a truck marshalling yard along McCormick Place into an enterprise featuring a sports museum, six restaurants and a casino with some 3,400 slots.

Rush Street Gaming is considering two plans for a Chicago casino. The first would involve a $1 billion repurposing of the Lakeside Center of McCormick Place. If not picked, the second plan would see a vacant plot of land along the Chicago River transformed into a gambling-friendly venue offering 2,800 gambling positions.

The new downtown Chicago casino could be open by the end of 2025 generating as much as $200 million in annual revenues. It could employ up to 3,000 people. Any resultant tax revenues would be earmarked for the city’s underfunded police and fire pension programs.
