The city of Chicago is getting closer to selecting a final location for a proposed casino. Mayor Lori Lightfoot is pushing for the final decision in May or June. Some neighbors and residents of each of the proposed locations are not on board and have voiced opposition to the project.

The three possible locations for a new Chicago casino are River West, Riverside and One Central. Bally's has proposed a $1.74 billion casino project and hotel in RiverWest. Hard Rock proposes a casino resort on the lakefront, near McCormick Place. Rivers 78 includes a proposed $2.62 billion project on a riverfront area on Chicago's South Side.

The next step is to have a virtual meeting on April 22 at 1 p.m. on the Chicago City Clerk's website. Written public comment will be accepted up until 10:00 a.M. Monday. The finalists will then be evaluated by city officials and a winning bid will come to the final decision in May or June.
