Pennsylvania’s Gambling Sector Performs Well despite Slow Summer Season
Sportsbook operators in Pennsylvania recorded a handle of $493.4 million in May. The gross gaming revenue was $47.8 million.
Pennsylvania's gaming revenue reached $447.8 million this month. It's an 8.4% increase compared to last year. The NBA playoffs were the most notable sports event in May. Top-performing sportsbooks remained the same: FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, and Barstool.
Land-based casinos in Pennsylvania are the most popular form of gambling. Table games and slots machines saw a 14.7% year-to-year increase in revenue. Online casinos also reported solid results with 18 online operators and four poker websites. Hollywood Penn National was the leader of the pack in the iGaming sector with $45.5 million in revenues. Internet slots were the second most profitable form with 69% of total igaming revenue and made $78.2 million. Fantasy sports were only sector of Pennsylvania’s market not to show year to year growth.
