The casino industry is recovering from the financial crisis. National operators are reporting a resurgence of gaming revenue and patronage in April-May. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will release revenue figures next week. In March, slots and table games revenue was off 21.5% from March 2019 at the 12 casinos that were open two years ago. If the new Live! properties in Philadelphia and Westmoreland County are counted, statewide revenue is down 19.6%. The industry was shut down half the month of March 2020 due to the pandemic.

PA Casinos are getting back to normal. Promo code PB250 offers a Divine Fortune Jackpot Slot and a Juicy 1X Playthrough Bonus.

The state lifted alcohol restrictions on April 4. Since then, casinos have seen a pickup in foot traffic. The presence of alcohol was difficult before the restrictions. Now, the casinos' offerings resemble what existed before March 2020. The state’s easing of restrictions also increased allowable capacity to 75% from 50%. A new relaxation taking effect on May 31 will return capacity back to 100% of normal limits. It doesn't reduce the volume of customers. However, it restricts the number of people able to use the casino's restaurants.

Mohegan Sun, Wind Creek and the Meadows have seen a drop in revenue. Frabbiele and McCracken have had problems with their casinos being located on opposite sides of Pennsylvania. Now, the gaming board has given them some guidance. They can drop their 6-foot social distance and turn back on slot machines on May 31. The regulations will remain in effect for guests and employees. The indoor smoking ban will stay in place for at least as long as face coverings are required. There will be options for more cautious customers.

Buffets have not returned and it's uncertain if and when they will. Wind Creek has not reopened its poker room. Mohegan Sun has still not restored valet parking service. Big promotional giveaways that draw crowds have also not yet returned. Casinos are advertising job fairs to find workers. Meadows currently employs about 600 team members, compared to its former level of 1,000. Frabbiele would like to hire 70 more people today. The casinos are getting closer to their pre-pandemic revenue levels. They are making no predictions of just when the revenue will reach pre-'panda' levels, but they can sense it is coming.
