November ground-breaking for Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Bristol
Hard Rock International is planning to build a $400 million Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Bristol. The construction work is expected to start next month. It is planned to be finished by the summer of 2024.
Hard Rock International is responsible for twelve gambling-friendly venues spread across the United States. The firm was purportedly given the right to bring a Las Vegas-style casino resort to Virginia in November 2020 following the successful passage of a local referendum.
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Bristol development is to feature a hotel with up to 1,000 rooms, a 25,00 sq ft sportsbook and as many as 50 retail and food outlets. It will also come complete with a convention center and could employ as much as 5,200 people by the end of the next decade.
The temporary Bristol Casino opened on the same site from July 8. It has so far attracted 109,000 visitors, with over half of them travelling less than 50 miles. The interim venue chalked up approximately $40.3 million in adjusted gross revenues through September and paid $7.2 million state taxes.
Evangelista reports that the Bristol Casino has donated over $22,900 to four local charities in three months. The money was raised by guests at the casino and from slot machines. The casino will also partner with the Feeding Southwest Virginia food bank and Salvation Army in November.
